The Run-Down:  Employers plan to put more attention than ever into hiring recent graduates, pulling out all the stops to secure top talent

  1. According to a survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, businesses plan to hire at least 30% more new graduates this year than they did previously
  2. At an invitation-only speed-networking event at Baylor University, soon to be graduates were brought to the presidential suite of the campus’ football stadium, where they were swooned with hors d’oeuvres and spoke with high ranking employees of a well-known organization
  3. Employers claim this wow-factor is what brought more students in, and believe with the tough competition, they will need to keep up with it once they hire employees, too

Why You Should Care:

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again- heck, we’ll say it until we’re blue in the face: times are changing! The business landscape will forever be transformed, seemingly prioritizing employees’ overall satisfaction with their jobs. Pay, benefits, and flexible work models are ranking as top priorities for not only those with experience but even new hires, who are facing a wide range of options.

We cannot emphasize enough just how important it is that employers recognize the value of their employees. It is on you, as a business leader, to create an environment where the hard work of your teams is acknowledged. Employees understand that productivity and profits are important, but they also want to feel they are contributing to an organization where those are not the only important values. To acquire that young, fresh talent, you need to be willing to have a fresh, creative outlook on how to lead a business!
